-Alcohol use combined with smoking greatly increases risk.
) K! X% Q6 i" m0 G! j& S) a-Prolonged exposure to the sun increases the risk of lip cancer.
0 Y: `/ v2 n) r# D1 k, B- Oral cancers can occur in people who do not smoke and have no other known risk factors.

-a sore that does not heal on the lip or in the mouth

-problems speaking clearly

4.Perform a Self-Exam Monthly2 ?9 r$ p1 j, W
-An oral examination is performed using a bright light and a mirror:- H2 b, ?" L- B, Q' \ u% Y6 K" d
-remove any dentures

-tilt head back to inspect and feel the roof of your mouth
0 L- P# B' S4 ?7 J8 F& c+ p J-pull the cheek out to see its inside surface as well as the back of the gums+ h: B& m! H0 l- v, O+ b" W3 q
-pull out your tongue and look at all of its surfaces
3 D2 w' r6 L$ t-feel for lumps or enlarged lymph nodes (glands) in both sides of the neck including under the lower jaw
